Beau Sejour leisure centre will host a series of events for its birthday

A series of events are being held in celebration of the 50th anniversary of a leisure centre's opening.

Beau Sejour in Guernsey will host events including a 70s disco, a tropical pool party, an anniversary concert, a bouncy council and go-karting.

The programme will run from 10-13 December, with several activities to be free, said organisers.

Head of recreation services Sam Herridge said the leisure centre was at the "heart of the community" and "almost everyone in Guernsey has a Beau Sejour memory".

Herridge said the leisure centre had been a place "where islanders have learned to swim, played a whole range of sports, seen their first show or music concert, attended a charity event, celebrated together... along with so much more".

"This milestone birthday celebration is our opportunity to say thank you," he added.

King Rat & The Soul Cats will headline the anniversary concert, while Guernsey Amateur Dramatic and Operatic Club will perform excerpts from past shows.

The club said it would start with an excerpt from Fiddler On The Roof, the first show performed at the centre.
