A £190,000 "splash factory" will be installed at a leisure centre in Lincolnshire, replacing a flume that is beyond repair.

The new attraction at Stamford Leisure Pool will feature tipping buckets, water jets, water wheels and a wet play area designed for all ages and abilities.

South Kesteven District Council said the existing flume, which has been out of action for several months, would be removed outside of opening hours.

The authority said the play pool would close for a short period of time while construction takes place in the beach area, although dates have yet to be confirmed.

A council spokesperson said the splash factory would have a bright and colourful designed aimed at encouraging children to learn through play.

They added: "We're looking forward to welcoming children in to explore and discover their watery environment, with water channels, interactive cannon jets and a triple-lane toddler slide."

Funding for the project has been provided through the council's leisure investment reserve.

The installation follows recent refurbishment work to the leisure pool's changing areas as part of the wider programme of improvement's across the district's leisure centres.
