Water bikes stopped in Lakes speed crackdown

Three water bike riders were stopped by rangers tackling speeding in the Lake District.

Cumbria Police and Lake District National Park rangers were carrying out patrols on Coniston Water on Saturday when they received complaints a red vessel was being ridden at "excessive speeds and putting other lake users at risk".

Details of the two male riders were taken with a view of prosecuting the pair, the force claimed.

In the same patrol, officers saw another water bike being "driven at excessive speed". The rider was given a warning letter advising them they could be prosecuted if they were seen "riding in an antisocial manner" again.
