Police have cordoned off Finchfield Road West and Finchfield Hill and a fire engine was parked outside the supermarket. Police said the roads were expected to remain closed for some time and advised drivers to find alternative routes.

Cars remained in the Lidl car park and the shop's entrance appeared to be damaged.

"The man's death is not being treated as suspicious and our thoughts are with his family at this sad time. Officers remain at the scene to help fire and ambulance colleagues carry out their enquiries," a police spokesperson said.
