A lifting bridge is set to be closed to traffic and pedestrians for a week while planned repair work is carried out.

Twin Sails Bridge, which crosses Holes Bay and links Poole and Hamworthy in Dorset, needs repairs to its lifting mechanism.

It is set to shut from 30 November until 6 December, with drivers and pedestrians urged to plan their routes and allow extra time for their journey.

All traffic will be diverted via Poole Lifting Bridge, using West Street and Blandford Road. Rigler Road on the western side of the bridge will remain open but only be accessible from Blandford Road on the Hamworthy side

Last year, the lifting bridge closed for five months - from August - after a routine inspection deemed the lifting mechanism unsafe to operate.
