Website owners are being advised to update software after weaknesses were found in programming language

The States of Guernsey has taken some websites temporarily offline as a precaution after international warnings over cyber-security flaws found in web software.

Affected pages include the government site, the revenue service portal, the post-16 education site, the Beau Sejour leisure centre and booking platform scuba.

The States said: "We have no evidence that any of our websites have been affected. We are acting early because it is the safest way to protect the public and our systems while the fix is applied and tested."

Websites would be brought back online when updates were made and checked, the States said.

The UK's Cyber Security Centre said the security issue had now been fixed and could have allowed an attack to trigger "memory corruption".
