Kensington PalaceSurprise visit: The award-winning actor and documentary maker Ross Kemp joined Prince William on a surprise royal visit to Ilminster on Tuesday, where they launched a new campaign called Ready Together, which aims to help communities prepare for emergencies and extreme weather.

The show must go on: The Bridgwater Carnival concert series started with a bang this week. The events are taking place at The McMillan Theatre until 15 October.

Clifton Suspension Bridge TrustNew heights: After two and a half years, the Clifton Suspension Bridge Trust has completed the project to refurbish the Clifton Suspension Bridge. The multi-million pound project began in April 2024 and was funded entirely through bridge tolls.

Relight my fire: Bristol Glassworks Ltd officially opened this week. The company was set up by Bristol Blue Glass workers who were made redundant this year - they'll continue making the famous blue glass pieces alongside other modern shapes and colours.
WatershedBetter together: Partners, supporters, colleagues and friends were welcomed to Bristol's Watershed this week for its 10th anniversary impact event, "Raised In Turns 10: Celebrating Impact Together". It marks a decade of working alongside children, families and communities to create opportunities, strengthen connections and support brighter futures.

WeatherWatchers/nigedvdGhost Rainbow: With Halloween only three weeks away, a rare ghost rainbow [or fogbow] was captured by WeatherWatcher nigedvd in Tollard Royal near Shaftesbury on Tuesday.
The phenomena occurs when the water droplets in fog cause the colours to overlap, resulting in a white rainbow.
WeatherWatchers/CraigRichAutumn walks: Dog walkers across the country have been dodging the showers this week, but the autumnal conditions seem not to have affected the enthusiasm of their four-legged friends.

Military bond: A stained-glass window has been unveiled at St Michael's Church in Lyneham to honour the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME), an Army corps based at MoD Lyneham.
Colonel Tim Gillies said: "I think the window is more than artwork; it's a lasting tribute to over 80 years of REME service."
