Skye's only Michelin Star restaurant is set to close later this year after more than a decade in business.

Loch Bay, run by Michael and Laurence Smith, opened in 2016 in Stein and specialises in local seafood.

The couple said the success of the restaurant had been down to their "incredible staff, their suppliers and the local community".

The Smiths said the Loch Bay, which won its Michelin Star since 2017, would close at the end of October.

In a message to customers, the Smiths said: "As our Loch Bay story comes to a close, Stein remains our home and we both look forward to beginning new chapters in our personal and professional lives."

Loch Bay won its Michelin award just 18 months after it opened.

At the time, the Smiths said the award meant a huge amount to them.

Michelin Stars are described as one of the restaurant trade's most sought-after honours and are considered to be as a hallmark of fine dining, according to VisitScotland.
