Man arrested after fire at former nightclub

The fire broke out at the former Ibiza Nightclub on King Street at about 03:10 BST, police said.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson following a fire at a former nightclub.

Emergency services were called to the former Ibiza Nightclub on King Street in Wigan at about 03:10 BST, with three fire engines from Bolton and Atherton sent to the scene.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said that while firefighters had now extinguished the fire, they remained at the building to check for any lingering hot spots.

Greater Manchester Police said a 31-year-old man had been taken into custody for questioning.
