The A180 Alexandra Dock bridge in Grimsby will be closed for some nights this week to allow for resurfacing work

A bridge in Grimsby will be fully closed overnight on at least two evenings for resurfacing work.

The A180 Alexandra Dock closures are planned for 7 and 8 October, with the possibility of 9 October as well depending on progress and weather, North East Lincolnshire Council said.

The closures will be overnight from 20:00 until 05:00 BST with traffic that uses Alexandra Dock bridge diverted through roundabouts in the centre of Grimsby throughout the duration.

Work includes resurfacing and anti-skid coatings at the end of the road next to Lockhill and Westgate roundabouts.

The council said a long contraflow that currently moves eastbound traffic onto the westbound carriage will change during one of the overnight closures to become a shorter contraflow.

This is so that the expansion joints on the westbound carriageway can be completed.

The bridge will reopen as soon as the overnight works have completed.
