Man found seriously injured in Leicester street

An investigation is under way after a man was found seriously injured in a street in Leicester.

Leicestershire Police said it was called to Narborough Road at 02:06 BST on Tuesday by the East Midlands Ambulance Service who were in attendance at the scene.

The force said the man had been taken to hospital where he remained with serious injuries.

Police added an investigation to establish how the man came to be injured was in its "early stages", but said it was not believed that the man had been stabbed.

An area of Narborough Road was closed off while initial inquiries were carried out, said police, but it has since reopened.

Insp Ryan Ludlam, said: "It is important to stress that the investigation is at a very early stage and we continue to establish the full circumstances of this incident.

"We would ask that people do not speculate as we continue to carry out inquiries and establish what has happened."

Officers appealed for anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact the force.
