Visiting has resumed after the leak at the Raigmore Hospital

Visiting has resumed after a water leak on the sixth floor of Raigmore Hospital in Inverness affected a number of areas of the building.

NHS Highland said some planned surgery had been paused and visiting was stopped in some wards for a time but has since been permitted again.

It said the leak had been contained.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to assist with a burst pipe at about midday and the crew left about 20 minutes later.

NHS Highland said: "As a precaution, some planned surgery was paused while we ensured it remains safe to proceed.

"Day-case procedures are being carried out, and we are continuing to care for emergency patients and anyone who needs urgent care and treatment.

"We are grateful for your understanding while we continue to ensure the hospital continues to be safe."
