Actor Stanley Tucci spotted trying Welsh cakes at Cardiff Market

Actor Stanley Tucci was spotted visiting the food stalls at Cardiff Market and trying some Welsh cakes as part of a new TV series.

The Devil Wears Prada star visited the family-run Cardiff Bakestones, with owner Adam El Tagoury describing Tucci as a "humble, genuine guy" during the visit.

El Tagoury said the A-list visit had also had a positive impact on business, with the bakery experiencing the "busiest day we've ever had outside of St. David's Day".

Tucci recently starred in a programme focused on Italian delicacies and specialities.

He is now set to follow this up with Tucci In Great Britain, which the actor told his social media followers would be his "next culinary adventure".

While the exact location of each episode is yet to be revealed, Tucci revealed on Instagram that the show would be coming "soon" to Disney+.

'A lovely, lovely guy'

El Tagoury said he was contacted by the production team ahead of the visit as part of their tour of the UK.

"They reached out to me because they wanted to come to Wales," he said.

"And the one thing you have to try when you're here is obviously a Welsh cake."

El Tagoury said he could not give too much away and said people would have to wait to find out exactly what Tucci thought of the Welsh cake.

"But put it this way, he looked very happy eating them," he added.

El Tagoury said he was proud to see Tucci visiting the market and described it as "an honour".

He said the Hollywood star lived up to his affable reputation and treated his staff and the other market stall owners with great care.

"You never know when meeting some of the A-list celebrities of this world what they're going to be like, but he had all the time in the world for myself and the staff around us.

"He was such a gentleman and took the time to take a couple of pictures with a few of us.

"What a lovely, lovely guy. I can't speak highly enough of him."

El Tagoury said the impact of Tucci's visit was immediate with the shop experiencing one of its busiest days of the year.

"We're very humbled and delighted they chose us," he added.
