An investigation into a flat fire in Derby has concluded that the most likely cause was "accidental" and linked to the "inappropriate use of electrics in the roof space".

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to reports of the fire in Osmaston Road, Normanton, shortly after 13:40 BST on Thursday.

The service said crews from Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire attended the blaze and found a fire affecting both the first-floor flat and the roof space.

It added all occupants of the building were accounted for and the flat has been boarded up.
