Teenager dies in motorcycle crash
Glenn Pringle/BBCA 16-year-old boy has died in a crash between a motorcycle and car.
At about 18:40 BST on Monday, officers from Northumbria Police were called to a two-vehicle collision on the A196 near Stobhill in Morpeth, Northumberland, the force said.
A black Yamaha motorcycle and grey Volkswagen Polo had both been travelling in the north-easterly direction when they collided opposite the junction of Bowyer Way. The teenager died at the scene.
A 24-year-old man, who was also travelling on the motorcycle, was taken to hospital with serious injuries where he remains, police said.
The driver of the Volkswagen, a woman in her 40s, remained at the scene to assist police.
The force said it was appealing for witnesses, especially those who may have seen the motorcycle prior to the collision.
