Family wants to lay missing teen to rest with dad
Cleveland PoliceA family has renewed its appeal to find a teenager who went missing 28 years ago so she can be laid to rest with her dad.
Donna Keogh, 17, was last seen in Middlesbrough on 28 April 1998 and is known to have travelled to Leeds during that year. Detectives said it was "strongly suspected" she was murdered shortly after she disappeared.
Her mum Shirley Keogh and niece Chaynce Keogh renewed the family's appeal for information on BBC One's Crimewatch on Monday.
"We need to know where she is so we can lay her to rest with her dad," Shirley Keogh said.
Donna's dad Brian Keogh died in July 2025, never having found out what happened to his daughter.
Shirley said: "We don't think he'll be appeased because she's not there with him.
"We've needed it all the time, but more so now."
Shirley said the last 28 years had been a nightmare.
"It's never-ending heartache," she said.
"The worry and the grief, every day.
"Every day I talk to Donna in the photo and tell her how much I love her and miss her."
'Determined for answers'
A 62-year-old man from Manchester was arrested earlier this year on suspicion of Donna's murder and has been released on bail.
A 64-year-old man from the Leeds area was arrested in March and has been released under investigation.
Det Ch Insp Steve Chatterton of Cleveland Police said he was determined to find answers for the family, and to "bring somebody to justice".
He said a big event in Middlesbrough around the time Donna was last seen might help people to remember.
"In 1998, just days after we know Donna was fit and well, Middlesbrough football team gained promotion," he said.
"They had played Oxford at home so hopefully that jogs some people's memories.
"We just need that one person that's got that little bit of a jigsaw that can give us the information that will help us find Donna for her family, for Shirley to be able to have some peace after all these years."
