Nurse, 80, celebrates 60 years in the profession
BBCAn 80-year-old nurse who has cared for patients for 60 years said she "never wanted to do anything else" as she celebrated six decades in the role.
Vibeke Nicklin, from Prenton in Wirral, originally only planned to move from Denmark to the United Kingdom for a year to work as an au pair.
But after meeting her husband Roger, Vibeke decided to stay and has dedicated her life to working in the National Health Service ever since.
"I feel lucky to be healthy, I enjoy my job and always have done, I've never wanted to do anything else," said Vibeke, who still works two overnight shifts each week.
In 1964, a 17-year-old Vibeke moved to the UK while waiting to begin her nurse training - a job she had always dreamed of doing.
After deciding to stay, she has worked in hospitals across the country.
The majority of her years in the profession have been spent at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre and Arrowe Park Hospital.
Vibeke NicklinWhile some people may be counting down the days until they can retire, that is certainly not the case for Vibeke.
"It's not a vocation as such, but you've got to like your job," she said.
"I've always liked my job. I can't think of anything worse than when people dread going to work on a Monday morning.
"Every time I meet somebody they say 'Are you still working?' and 'When are you giving up?' but I just tell them 'We'll see...'."
