Girl, 11, surrounded by glass after brick attack
BBCA mum from East Yorkshire was left distraught after two boys threw bricks at her house, smashing her disabled daughter's bedroom window.
Abbie, 30, from Old Goole, had to move her 11-year-old daughter to safe accommodation after the incident on Tuesday evening left her surrounded by glass.
"I absolutely feel distraught. I'm scared. I don't know why this has happened," Abbie said.
Humberside Police said inquiries were ongoing and asked anyone with information to get in touch.
Abbie said she heard a "massive bang" when she was making tea in her kitchen at about 17:50 GMT on Tuesday.
"I ran into my daughter's room. She started crying and a brick had come through the window," she said.
"It had gone over her head and landed at the side of her. The window had all smashed."
The brick also caused damage to one of the bedroom walls, Abbie said.
HandoutAbbie's daughter has special needs, is blind and requires round-the-clock care.
She was sitting in her adapted recliner in her ground-floor bedroom when the window smashed, leaving her surrounded by glass, Abbie says.
Abbie, who is pregnant, had to get help from her partner and his family to safely move her daughter out of her bedroom.
She rang the police and ambulance service, and contacted social services to find suitable accommodation where her daughter could sleep.
"Her bed was right next to the window so it wasn't suitable for her to stay in the house," she said.
"My main priority was to care for her and to make sure she was safe."
CCTV footage of the incident showed two boys throw two bricks at the window. One bounced into the garden and one went through the window.
"The community has pulled together to share the footage that I've put out on social media to try and track down who it was," Abbie said.
"All I do is go to work, come home and care for my daughter.
"I just want to know why they've done it because it's not just me that they've hurt, they've hurt my daughter, she's got ripped away from her mum.
The window has since been repaired, which meant her daughter could return home.
Humberside Police said officers were investigating reports of criminal damage at a property in Goole on at about 17:50 GMT on Tuesday.
A police spokesperson said: "Two boys reportedly approached a property and smashed the window with a brick before fleeing the scene."
The force has asked anyone with information of CCTV to get in touch.
