A six-week bridge closure to carry out strengthening works has been postponed.

Cumberland Council had been due to start works on the C2030 at Ullock Bridge on 2 November, installing a reinforced concrete saddle aimed at ensuring the structure's safety and reliability.

However, the council has now said it will defer the scheme to help minimise disruption for residents, businesses and road users.

The authority said a revised start date will be set once arrangements have been finalised, with an expected date of early 2027. A council spokesperson apologised for any inconvenience caused by the short notice rescheduling.
