'Relief' as salon reopens 15 months after arson
Simon Thake/BBCA Sheffield business owner has spoken of his "relief" and "excitement" at the reopening of his salon 15 months after a fire devastated the building.
Hasan Seedeeq had only been running N&D Salon at the Manor Park Centre for nine days before an arson attack started at a neighbouring business in May 2025 meant he was forced to close.
Since then the 35-year-old has had to rebuild the salon from scratch, while struggling to find work to pay rent and utility bills.
Seedeeq said: "There are no words that can explain how hard it's been for me because any penny I had, I spent in this shop and suddenly one disaster and I lost everything."
South Yorkshire Police believe that the fire on Manor Park Centre was started deliberately in the early hours of Monday 12 May 2025.
The force has confirmed that nobody has been charged over the incident and the investigation was filed "pending further investigative opportunities".
suppliedKurdish-born Seedeeq described the "heartbreaking" moment he found out his new business had burned down.
"We only put the front sign up on the Sunday afternoon and after we finished the job I went to Birmingham to see my girlfriend.
"I woke up when a family friend sent me a video outside the salon all burnt out. I couldn't talk, I just shook."
The salon was one of three shops affected by the fire with Flowers and Gift 2 Go and Krown Tanning & Beauty both suffering serious damage. The other two businesses have yet to reopen.
suppliedAlthough the landlord of the salon stopped Seedeeq's rent, he admits he has "struggled" to find work to pay household bills.
"Nobody wanted to give me a chair for a barber job because they said I'd take their customers with me when I left, but I just needed a job.
"I used to come here and sit at the bus stop opposite my shop crying thinking about what happened."
After taking on the decorating himself, Seedeeq was finally able to reopen the salon on Saturday 15.
"I'm just so grateful to everyone for welcoming me back" he said.
"The people of Manor have been amazing."
