Firefighters are dealing with a "significant wildfire" in a field near the Tamar Bridge.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said the fire had been reported in a field near the bridge at 09:42 BST and eight fire engines had been sent to the scene.

Tamar Crossings, which operates the bridge, advised drivers to take extra care and said it was monitoring visibility levels due to the smoke from the "significant" fire to ensure crossings remained safe for drivers.

The fire service advised people in the area to keep windows and doors closed if the smoke became particularly thick.

At 13:00 the fire service said the fire was under control and crews were continuing to dampen down hotspots.
