Dementia podcast wins gold and silver awards
BBCA podcast that aims to help people understand the impact dementia can have on people has won gold and silver at an award ceremony.
'The Dementia Perspective', a collaboration between OG Podcasts and Guernsey Alzheimer's Association, took home the gold prize in the specialist category at the British Podcast Awards at London's O2 Arena.
The podcast also took home the silver award in the health and wellbeing category.
Co-hosted by Ollie Guillou and Julie Thompson from the charity, the podcast explores topics including brain health and what it's really like to live with dementia along with personal stories from people affected by the condition.
Guillou said they wanted each episode to have a purpose and winning the award felt special.
"The thing I'll never forget is getting up on stage with the team and celebrating together," Guillou said.
"People in the room were really rooting for us and it was such a lovely sense of community.
"The podcast helps amplify the message of what this little island is capable of."
He added new episodes of the podcast were already in production as the team wanted to keep giving people practical advice.
