Teenager seriously injured after being hit by car

A teenager suffered serious injuries after he was hit by a Mazda car.

Emergency services were called to Ladywood Road in Kirk Hallam, near Ilkeston, at about 08:00 BST on Thursday, said Derbyshire Police.

The teenager suffered injuries which the force said were serious but not life-threatening. His age has not been released.

No arrests have been made but police said the driver, a woman in her 20s, stopped at the scene and was assisting officers with their inquiries.

Ladywood Road was closed for several hours following the crash, with operator trentbarton saying buses were unable to serve stops and diverting along Godfrey Drive.
