EasyJet will cease running flights from Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) next January, the airline has confirmed.

The operator, which offered journeys to Barcelona, Paris, Belfast, Malaga, Mallorca and Geneva, said it was withdrawing from the airport to "focus on maintaining and developing" its "most popular" routes.

Customers with EasyJet bookings from LBA beyond 5 January next year have been offered a free transfer to flights from an alternative airport or a refund, the operator added.

LBA said it had nothing further to add to EasyJet's statement.

The company has not confirmed whether it will continue to run flights from the airport to all of its destinations until January.

However, its website said it had no available flights from Leeds Bradford to Geneva, while flights to Malaga and Mallorca appeared to no longer be running after November.

Flights to Barcelona, Paris and Belfast still appeared to be available until January.

An EasyJet spokesperson said: "Following a review of our routes from Leeds Bradford Airport, we have made the decision to no longer operate flights from the airport after 5 January.

"Our focus is on maintaining and developing routes which prove most popular with customers."
