Man charged after shooting in Digbeth

A man has been charged with a firearms offence after a man was shot near an events venue in Birmingham.

Rowan Youngsam, aged 20, is accused of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, and wounding with intent.

Youngsam has been remanded in custody to appear before Birmingham magistrates on Wednesday.

It comes after a 23-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg, following disorder which police said had started inside the Luna Springs venue in the Digbeth area of the city.

West Midlands Police said the disorder was believed to have spilled out onto the street at the corner of Hack Street and Bromley Street at around 23:20 BST on Sunday.

The 23-year-old man who suffered a gunshot wound remains under arrest in hospital on suspicion of violent disorder and will be questioned in due course.

A man aged 30 who was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and possession of a knife has been released on bail while investigations continue.

The police force said it had set up a dedicated website where people could send images, video and other information directly to investigators.
