Flower power for electrical substation makeover
Derby City CouncilA public artwork featuring the county flower has given a substation in Derby a new look.
The floral mural incorporates the lilac blooms of Jacob's ladder and has been painted on to the Bold Lane substation, between St Werburgh's Church and the Bold Lane Car Park, by city artist Natalie Coe.
Coe said the palette complemented "the leafy surroundings and brightens up an everyday building into something people want to look at".
The work was commissioned by Derby City Council using government funding as part of an ongoing public artwork programme, with further artworks coming across Derby "in the coming months".
City centre, culture and tourism lead councillor Gurkiran Kaur said: "This was one of our priority locations and the flora and fauna theme complements its surroundings beautifully, as well as the Electric Daisy artwork opposite.
"I look forward to seeing more artworks take shape over the coming months."
