The UK's largest free air show will return to East Sussex next year, organisers have announced.

Eastbourne International Airshow, also known as Airbourne, is set to run from 12 – 15 August in 2027, its 33rd year.

This year's event hosted military displays, historic warbirds and aerobatic flying teams who performed in the sky along a two-mile stretch on the town's coast.

"Airbourne isn't just a highlight in Eastbourne's events calendar," said councillor Jenny Williams from Eastbourne Borough Council, who plan the event each year.

"It is the biggest free event of its kind and an important asset for UK tourism."

'Enormously grateful'

It came after news that the Red Arrows, who are typically the show's star attraction, pulled out after the aerobatics team were stranded in Canada from poor weather predictions in the north-east of the country.

The council previously said it would not be able to stage the air show if it failed to raise enough money.

Williams said: "Staging a major free event on this scale depends on the commitment of our partners, sponsors, volunteers and supporters.

"We are enormously grateful for their continued backing."
