New signs as part of welcome at airport

Jersey Airport has had a makeover with new signs to welcome passengers as they arrive on the island.

The signs at aircraft stands and in the airport were designed to celebrate Jersey's unique identity, managing director Dale Reeson said.

They include a greeting in Jèrriais, to give people flying in from the UK and European destinations "a distinctly local welcome from the moment they arrive".

Last year 1.4 million journeys were made by passengers to and from Jersey. Reeson said: "The moment you arrive somewhere shapes your first impression and we want people landing in Jersey to feel an immediate sense of place and a genuine welcome, whether passengers arriving home or visiting our island."

He added: "The new arrivals welcome signage celebrates so much of what makes our island special, from beautiful imagery to our local language."

The signs are part of a wider of upgrades at the airport in St Peter, including work on the departure lounge or people heading to the 47 destinations airlines serve from the island.
