Charity supports grieving children in Romania

A man who travelled to Romania to help grieving children on behalf of a local charity has said it was a privilege to help those in need.

Trustee Dave Bisson went to Romania with Mustard Seed Jersey to aid the Association of Changed Lives charity which hosted a week-long camp of activities in the Oradea area for grieving children - many of whom had lost a parent.

Mustard Seed Jersey said it had been helping people in Romania, through funding and donations, since it was set up in 1998.

"It was a wonderful experience seeing the children who come from such backgrounds enjoying themselves," said Bisson.

The charity said children left the camp with "more peace, higher self-esteem and much [more] confidence".

Bisson said the camp hosted more than 40 children and that "nearly all of them had lost their parents".

He said: "To see them sort of blossom throughout the week was really good because when they first came in on the Monday they were looking pretty forlorn.

"By the end of the week they had cheered up considerably."
