A man who died in a four-vehicle crash on the M6 was "a devoted and loving husband" and "a loyal friend", his family has said.

Donald Sheppard, 64, from Birmingham, was driving a Ford Focus when he was involved in a crash with three lorries at 04:10 BST on Monday. He died at the scene.

It happened on the northbound carriageway of the motorway, between junctions 15 and 16, close to Seabridge in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire.

"He touched the lives of countless people through his kindness, warmth, and willingness to help others," his family said in statement on Thursday.

"Don leaves behind a family and circle of friends who loved him dearly.

"While words cannot lessen the pain of his loss, the memories shared with him will remain a lasting source of comfort and pride.

"He will be remembered with love, missed every day, and held forever in the hearts of those whose lives he touched."

The drivers of the lorries were taken to hospital following the crash.

Two were later discharged and one remained in hospital on Thursday.

Anyone with footage from the area who has not already been in touch with police is urged to contact officers.
