A man has been arrested after a woman died following a two-car crash in Leicestershire.

Police said it was called to reports of a crash between a grey Hyundai i30 and a silver Vauxhall Agila in Ashby Road, Hinckley, shortly before 22:30 BST on Monday.

A woman in her 60s, who was driving the Vauxhall, was pronounced dead a short time later.

The force said a 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remained in custody.

Det Sgt Kasie McMahon said: "I believe there will have been people who saw what happened and I'm appealing for witnesses or motorists with dashcam footage to come forward.

"Any footage or details about what happened that you can provide could help our investigation."
