Man jailed for raping teenage girls in the 1990s
Leicestershire PoliceA man who raped and sexually abused four teenage girls in the 1990s has been jailed.
David Campbell abused the girls between 1992 and 1997 while he was living at an address in south Leicester.
The 64-year-old, of Nuneaton, was found guilty of three counts of indecent assault and one count of attempted rape after a trial at Leicester Crown Court – all of which related to the same victim.
He had already pleaded guilty to two counts of rape relating to a second victim and two counts of indecent assault, which related to a third and fourth victim. He was jailed for 20 years on Thursday.
According to Leicestershire Police, Campbell's offending first came to light in 2021 when one of the victims told detectives that he had assaulted her when she was a teenager.
Three other women were identified as a result of further inquiries.
They too, the force added, said they had been sexually abused by Campbell when they were children.
One victim disclosed that he had raped her and said that if she told anyone, he would tell people she had consented and "came onto" him, police said.

Det Con Emma Ball said: "Each of the women involved in this case has grown up living their lives as victims of sexual abuse and they must be commended for their courage in speaking out about what happened.
"It's clear that David Campbell is a predator who has a sexual interest in underage girls.
"He took advantage of each victim when they were alone together and made comments towards them that if they told anyone what happened, no-one would believe them.
"He made them feel like they were the ones in the wrong.
"I hope the fact that he's now spending time in prison for what he did can provide each victim with a sense of closure and allow them to feel justice has finally been served."
