A road has been closed in West Sussex as firefighters tackle a blaze at a house.

The fire broke out at the property in Egdean shortly before 03:00 BST, and six fire engines and an aerial ladder vehicle were deplyed.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (WSFRS) said the blaze had been brought under control by 09:00, but two fire engines and the aerial ladder vehicle remain at the scene.

The A283 has been closed in both directions.

One person has been treated for the effects of breathing in smoke.

The fire, which WSFRS said engulfed the "entire roof space and the first floor of the property", is believed to have been caused accidentally.
