A bank has been targeted in an attempted ram-raid for the second time in three years.

Cambridgeshire Police said it was called to the branch of Nationwide in High Causeway in Whittlesey at about 03:00 GMT.

Suspects had fled the scene before officers arrived but nothing was taken, the force said.

"Crimes have been raised for theft of a vehicle and criminal damage and investigations are ongoing," it added.

An abandoned yellow telehandler was cordoned off at the road junction outside the branch.

In October 2023, police were called to the same branch after ram-raiders used a digger and a pick-up truck to steal money.

Anyone with information, dashcam or CCTV footage has been asked to contact police.
