Arrests after boys found inside former Debenhams

Two boys have been arrested after they were found inside the former Debenhams building in Nottingham city centre.

Nottinghamshire Police said a closure order issued by magistrates in December 2025 following "repeated incidents of anti-social behaviour" had been extended several times.

The force said it received a report on Monday that youths had accessed the roof of the building in Long Row, off Old Market Square.

Officers attended the scene and arrested two boys,13 and 15, on suspicion of entering a closed premises in breach of a closure order. They were released on bail while inquiries continue.

The closure order gives officers the power to arrest and prosecute anyone who enters the premises without authorisation.

Ch Insp Kylie Davies, said: "The public told us the property was a magnet for anti-social behaviour, so we worked with Nottingham City Council to get it closed.

"This meant that we were able to take swift and effective action against two youths who thought that they could continue causing issues at the location."
