Smoke plume visible for miles amid large fire

Five fire crews are tackling a large blaze at premises in a Warwickshire village.

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service said the crews and a water carrier were deployed to a building off Coalpit Lane in Long Lawford, and a large plume of smoke could be seen from Coventry, Rugby and Leamington Spa.

In a social media post published at 18:45 BST, the service asked people living nearby to close their doors and windows.

The premises, understood to be a farm, are surrounded by fields according to images from the scene, although the circumstances leading up to the fire - which looks to involve hay - were unclear on Monday evening.
