Seventh person charged in Thailand teenage drug couriers case
Getty ImagesA seventh person is facing charges after two teenagers from Cardiff were allegedly trafficked to Thailand to smuggle drugs.
South Wales Police said Carrie-Anne Dreyer, 39, of Llantwit Major, had been charged with conspiring to evade a ban on importing a class B drug and four counts of conspiring to arrange travel for another person with a view to exploitation.
She is in custody and due to appear at Cardiff Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
The teenagers from Cardiff, both 17, were arrested in Thailand in June and remain in custody.
They were allegedly caught carrying 64kg (141lb) of cannabis in their suitcases and are being supported by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
After their arrest, police began investigating how the children came to be abroad.
Six people have already appeared in court in the UK in connection with the case.
They are:
- Tremaine Jeanne, 28, from Llanrumney
- Jessica Sani, 28, from Newport
- Levi Mohamed, 20, of Butetown
- Patrick O'Driscoll, 30, of Caerau
- Gareth Press, 42, of Ely
- Ffion Bowes-Cavanagh Hooley, 24, of Caerau
The children's families have been updated regarding the latest development.
