About 100 customers faced delayed deliveries after the Evri van was seized

Police seized an Evri delivery van after finding its driver had no insurance or valid driving licence.

The vehicle, with about 100 packages inside, was stopped in St Neots at about 12:00 BST on Wednesday.

Cambridgeshire Police also said delivery of the parcels would have been "a miracle", regardless of the seizure, given the state of the van's tyres.

Evri said it took safety and compliance "very seriously" and that the vehicle belonged to a self-employed driver. It added it expected the majority of the parcels involved to be delivered within its normal five-day target.

A company spokesperson said: "We take our responsibility regarding safety and compliance very seriously, and we require the same from our couriers.

"We are aware of an incident yesterday involving a self-employed courier and his own vehicle, and we are investigating this with the individual in question.

"All of our couriers are responsible for ensuring that they have the correct documentation to provide service, including a driving licence and insurance."
