A motorcyclist has died in hospital after being involved in a collision with a lorry on Monday.

A red Volvo lorry heading northbound collided with a black Kawasaki motorbike going in the opposite direction on the B1043 Old North Road in Sawtry, Cambridgeshire, at about 12:50 BST.

The motorcyclist, a 23-year-old man from Yaxley, near Peterborough, was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital, in Cambridge, with life-threatening injuries but has since died, police said.

The driver of the HGV, a 76-year-old man from Wisbech, was uninjured and arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving. He was later released on bail.

Officers have appealed to anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact them.
