"I can't put terminal and her together, they just don't match," the mother of a two-year-old girl with a rare and aggressive cancer has said.

Alicia, from Totton, said her daughter Betty was diagnosed with incurable, stage four metastatic neuroblastoma cancer in July.

Now the family is trying to raise £520,000 for Betty to undergo specialist treatment in Barcelona.

Speaking to BBC Radio Solent, Alicia said: "She's my only child, she was my absolute miracle and I've got to do what I can as a parent to try and get her out there for the treatment."

Alicia said there was a hospital in Spain that was ready to provide the treatment, which she believed would take eight-to-10 months.

"If we could fly out tomorrow, we would," she said.

She said she had not been able to work since her daughter's diagnosis because of the high volume of appointments.

Alicia has been sharing her daughter's story on social media, alongside videos of the family baking at home, which have been liked and shared by more than one million people online.

She said her daughter's diagnosis had changed their "whole outlook on life".

"Every hug, every kiss, every cuddle, every time she says my name, I just pocket it in my brain," she added.
