Arrest made over life-threatening assault

An arrest has been made in connection with a serious assault that left a man in a life-threatening condition.

The victim was found with a head injury by police in St Mary's Lane, Maldon, at about 18:45 BST on Sunday. The attack was described as "targeted".

Essex Police said a 38-year-old man from South Woodham Ferrers was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, and remains in custody.

Det Insp Guy Turnbull said the force was still appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage to get in touch.
