Death of man who went overboard from cruise ship 'not suspicious'
BBCThe death of a man whose body was recovered after going overboard from a cruise ship off the east coast of Scotland is not being treated as suspicious, police have confirmed.
The man was reported missing from Ambassador Cruise Lines vessel MS Ambition, about 36 nautical miles from Arbroath, at 08:35 on Friday.
His body was recovered later that day following a major multi-agency search.
The man's identity has not been released, but Police Scotland said his next of kin had been informed.
Coastguard aircraft from Prestwick and Carlisle were scrambled to assist in the search along with a commercial search and rescue helicopter.
Lifeboat crews from Anstruther and Broughty Ferry and Coastguard teams from Dundee, Arbroath and St Andrews also joined the operation.
The ship had been on its return journey to Dundee from a solar eclipse cruise, with stops in Iceland and the Faroe Islands, when the incident happened.
It docked in Lerwick before returning to the city on Friday.
The ship left Dundee to sail to Newcastle shortly after 18:00.
