Man arrested over crash which left cyclist severely injured

A man has been arrested in connection with a crash which left a cyclist in hospital with life-threatening injuries in the south of Scotland.

The incident, involving a bike and a van, happened on the A72 between Skirling in the Scottish Borders and Biggar in South Lanarkshire at about 15:30 on Tuesday 11 August.

A 36-year-old male cyclist was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.

Police said a 37-year-old man had been arrested and a report would be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
