This is a brilliant watch. Blood and thunder. 100mph. Proper football.

Harry Souttar crunches into County's Cal Roberts in midfield but escapes a booking.

Martin Paterson, the Magpies manager, doesn't though, he takes his protests too far and is cautioned by Ed Duckworth.

  2. goal

GOAL: Newport 1-0 Rochdalepublished at 12:51 BST 15 August

    Kyle Cameron (18 mins)

It's a goal in his first league start for Kyle Cameron!

The defender manages to latch onto a looping header by fellow-new signing Yahya Bamba, and pokes it past Nils Ramming in the Rochdale goal.

All these new players might end up bonding pretty well.

  4. goal

GOAL: Oxford 1-0 MK Donspublished at 12:50 BST 15 August

    Mark Harris (20 mins)

Oxford hit the front against the newly promoted MK Dons.

Siriki Dembele shifts to make himself some room just outside the box and hits a shot which is well blocked, with the inevitable appeals for handball. But while all that is going on, the spinning ball comes off Dons' Cohen Bramall and falls kindly for Mark Harris to drill home from close range.

  5. CLOSE!published at 12:50 BST 15 August

    Notts County 0-0 Leicester

First glimpse of goal for City as Will Alves whips in a cross from the left, it's nodded down by Wes Burns but Bobby De Cordova-Reid slips as he tries to unleash a low finish on the stretch and it's routine for James Belshaw to gather low to his left.

    Good chance goes begging.

    Reading 1-1 Luton

Luton are denied a chance to retake the lead!

Forward Nahki Wells managed to break clear of the Reading back line. He was staring down Joel Pereira in the net, but in comes Paudie O'Connor to save the day.

Paul Howard pulls out the first yellow card of the match as Oldham's Oliver Norburn goes in late on Kyle Dempsey.

  8. Postpublished at 12:46 BST 15 August

    Oxford 0-0 MK Dons

Tyler Goodrham hasn't played a league game for Oxford United since New Year's Day, so his presence is a real boost for a team unable to register new players.

He has the U's first shot on target, but Dons defender Charlie Goode takes the pace out of it and it is comfortable for goalkeeper Craig MacGillivray to gather.

  9. 'Evans walking a tightrope now'published at 12:46 BST 15 August

    Notts County 0-0 Leicester

    Mark Stallard
Ex-Notts County striker on BBC Radio Nottingham

We love Jack Evans hunger and desire but maybe he just needs to handle it a little bit better. There is a time and a place and 15 minutes into the first game of the season may not be very wise. He is walking a tightrope now for the rest of the game.

  10. YELLOW CARDpublished at 12:46 BST 15 August

    Notts County 0-0 Leicester

Jack Evans latches onto a flick from County's Luka Smyth and barges down the left but has the ball nicked away by Jayden Joseph before clattering the Foxes full-back as he tried to clear. Painful one, and he'll need some treatment.

It's the first caution of the season from ref Ed Duckworth.

    Oxford 0-0 MK Dons

Oxford may have had more of the ball but MK Dons are starting to impose themselves on the game.

Moments after a Marvin Ekpiteta header looped into the arms of Oxford goalkeeper Jamie Cumming, Ryan Wintle then volleyed straight at Cumming after the hosts had failed to properly clear a dangerous long throw.

  12. 'Dembele's pace a huge threat'published at 12:43 BST 15 August

    Oxford 0-0 MK Dons

    Nathan Cooper
    BBC Radio Oxford commentator

The pace of Dembele almost caused huge problems for Ekpiteta who looked a little scared on the ball as he nearly let Oxford through on goal.

Siriki Dembele's pace is a huge threat for Oxford.

Finally some time on the ball and attacking intent from Leicester as Wes Burns win a free-kick on the right touchline.

The big guns are up, including man-mountain Harry Souttar.

Sammy Braybrooke takes it... but keeper James Belshaw claims with ease to the delight of the fans behind the goal where he used to have a season ticket.

    Oxford 0-0 MK Dons

The first 10 minutes at a sun-drenched Kassam Stadium have been uneventful, with Oxford seeing more of the ball and looking crisper in possession.

Dons' Marvin Ekpiteta conceded a corner under pressure from Siriki Dembele, but the visitors cleared it comfortably.

    Newport 0-0 Rochdale

    Ioan Griffiths
    BBC Sport Wales reporter

There is an air of excitement at Rodney Parade as Newport's new era under Hayden Mullins begins. They will be hoping to avoid a repeat of last year's dramatic relegation battle.

After three years away, visitors Rochdale are finally back playing in the football league and many have made the 193 mile journey and are making their voices heard behind the goal.

  16. goal

GOAL: Reading 1-1 Lutonpublished at 12:38 BST 15 August

    Jack Marriott (8 mins)

It's an almost instant response by the home side as Jack Marriott pounces on some poor passing by the Luton backline.

Marriott nips in and pokes the ball underneath Josh Keeley in the Luton goal.

The centre-forward scored 16 in the league last season, so Leam Richardson will be very happy to see him up and running on the opening day!

  17. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 12:37 BST 15 August

    Notts County 0-0 Leicester

    WOW.

Swansea loanee Ollie Cooper flies forward to close down Alex McCarthy as he aims to launch a long clearance and slides in to deflect the ball into the underside of the bar before it bounces back out and is cleared.

Brilliant start from Notts, the only thing missing is a goal..
