The Americans are struggling a little bit, and the Europeans are looking very comfortable.

    3UP Hull/Woad v Noh/Yin (6)

Charley Hull has put plenty of juice on this and buries her putt into the heart of the cup from around 15 feet to bring a huge cheer from those wearing blue and yellow..

The English pairing have come out firing this afternoon after their disappointment his morning and are now three up.

  3. Boutier birdiepublished at 13:50 BST 11 September

    2UP Koerstz Madsen/Boutier v Khang/Lee (5)

Nice birdie putt on the fifth by Celine Boutier, from further out than both Americans, but both Americans fail to match her as Megan Khang and then Alison Lee slide their efforts wide of the cup.

    Europe go two up.

    Nadaud/Rhodes v Corpuz/Kim A/S (4)

One ro two gasps as Auston Kim misses a five footer to halve the fourth hole but Allisen Corpuz dunks her attempt in and rescues the situation for the American duo.

    2UP Hull/Woad v Noh/Yin (5)

After watching Lottie Woad fly 30 feet past the flag, Charley Hull heads over the water and takes on the pin on the sixth, with her ball just holding the top left edge of the green.

Yealimi Noh and Angel Yin are both in much safer territory in the heart of the green with downhill putts from around 20 feet.

It was a good-looking swing from Julia Lopez Ramirez. She has a tricky putt to judge coming from around 30 feet.

  8. Fore!published at 13:42 BST 11 September

    1UP Koerstz Madsen/Boutier v Khang/Lee (4)

Whoops - Nanna Koerstz Madsen is hitting out of the rough and gets a massive flier, so the ball whizzes through the green off the back and rolls across the path and comes to rest up against a wooden fence.

    Not exactly position 'A' there.

    Nadaud/Rhodes v Corpuz/Kim A/S (3)

Over on third, Mimi Rhodes taps in for par to halve the hole. The European rookies are more than holding their own so far.

Another hole goes Europe's way as Angel Yin misreads her putt after watching her playing partner's (Yaelimi Noh) break left.

It is very, very tight, as we expected out there. As always, it is very hard-fought.

    1UP Hull/Woad v Noh/Yin (4)

That is glorious from Lottie Woad. Stunning stuff from Lottie Woad. She has flicked a switch this afternoon.

    1UP Hull/Woad v Noh/Yin (4)

What a shot that is. The wind is whipping in on the fifth hole and anything right is in a world of trouble but Angel Yin plays a lovely wedge in towards the pin.

The only problem for her and Yaelimi Noh, who runs into around 10 feet is that Lottie Woad's effort is even better and ends up inches away from the cup . Surely that'll be given to put Europe in pole position on the fifth green.

  14. Korda missespublished at 13:31 BST 11 September

    Ciganda/Ramirez v Korda/Coughlin A/S (2)

Nelly Korda has a great chance to win the second but she burns the edge with her effort, which almost brings her to her knees in frustration.

Lauren Coughlin can't sink hers either so the Spaniards manage to escape with a half after both found trouble off the tee. That's a result for them.

  15. Clever from USA pairpublished at 13:27 BST 11 September

    1UP Koerstz Madsen/Boutier v Khang/Lee (4)

Alison Lee taps in for her birdie on four - Megan Khang was further away but in matchplay the team can pick who goes first, and crucially Khang's ball was similar to Nanna Koerstz Madsen so the Americans didn't want to give her a read on the line.

The plan works as Madsen lips out with a nice effort so the hole goes the way of the American duo.

  16. Europe double leadpublished at 13:18 BST 11 September

    2UP Koerstz Madsen/Boutier v Khang/Lee (3)

I've always said the Solheim Cup and Ryder Cup are largely putting contests - yes you can lose holes with wayward driving and you can stick the odd iron shot in nice and close, but ultimately whoever makes the big putts in the big moments comes out on top.

And on the third green it's Nanna Koerstz Madsen who proves that by draining her putt from long range and then piling all the pressure on Megan Khang who has about a 15 footer that just grew a bit longer after Madsen made hers.

Sure enough, the American burns the edge and Europe go two up. I'd suggest that if Madsen missed then Khang would've made that.

Boy did Nastasia Nadaud enjoy that. A longish birdie putt to win the second hole drops for the Frenchwoman, who gives it the fist pump as the European duo immediately get back on terms.

Two putts on two greens. A big smile from her partner Charley Hull. That looked like an excellent putting stroke from Lottie Woad.

How good is Lottie Woad's putting? She wins another hole for Europe, who have turned this match around, with a superb effort from at least 15 feet.

Yealimi Noh, whose ball was inside the Englishwoman's cannot match it, with her stroke sliding right of the cup.
