    Sussex 120-2 v Notts 240

No need to run those, Charlie Tear.

The Sussex number four with a perfect cover drive to put Mukesh Kumar away to the rope for four.

    Hit, stand, admire.

Sussex continue to move along nicely.

  2. Postpublished at 14:01 BST 16 September

    Kent 214 v Lancashire 161 & 86-2

Michael Jones is closing in on a half-century as he gets Khaled Ahmed away for another four on the leg-side before picking up two to move to 44.

Jones' partnership with Marcus Harris is now worth almost 50 runs as well.

Much-needed for Lancashire. Frustrating for Kent.

More wickets for Ben Cliff in one innings than the previous 10 matches!

    Luke - Hitchin

Don’t know if Craig Overton has ever been a Wisden cricketer of the year - but if isn’t by next April’s little yellow book, there’s something very wrong.

    Aidan - Clitheroe, Lancs

Only 1 winner at Headingley now. if Yorkshire could finish when their opponents are down they would be fighting to win the championship.

    Jon - Oxfordshire

  4. Postpublished at 13:59 BST 16 September

    Yorkshire 212 & 8-2 v Somerset 201

A very delicately poised game. Yorkshire are in need of a stand after losing both openers early.

Sam Whiteman is forward to Craig Overton, defending into the off side.

    Maiden over.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:58 BST 16 September

    Edavalath c Ackermann b Stokes 1 (Durham 465 v Worcs 90-2)

Ben Stokes has his second as Rehaan Edavalath plays slightly too soon and a leading edge is caught at mid-wicket by Colin Ackermann.

Another one goes in the next over as Jake Libby is lbw to Matthew Potts for 55.

  6. Postpublished at 13:57 BST 16 September

    Leicestershire 244 v Hampshire 212 & 50-0

Nathan Gilchrist is flicked leg side - from outside the line of off stump by Nick Gubbins for a single.

That takes Hampshire to 50 in the 17th over.

It's decidedly gloomy here at Leicester and the floodlights are on.

  7. Essex crowd's warm applause for retiring Elgarpublished at 13:57 BST 16 September

    Essex 134 & 94-2 v Warwickshire 191

Give him his due they were very quick reflexes by Jani. Elgar didn’t need to wait for the umpire’s decision.

That is his final home innings for Essex so he gets a round of applause.

You can hear the response from the crowd, what they think of this man. Never has an innings of 29 been greeted by such acclaim and deservedly so. That’s a nice touch.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:55 BST 16 September

    Bracey lbw Roland-Jones 13 (Glos 100-5 v Middx 326)

James Bracey had the chance to reach 1,000 runs for the season today but is left five runs short as he is trapped in front by Toby Roland-Jones.

It's a second wicket in successive overs for Middlesex, with Tommy Boorman bowled by Ryan Higgins for 32 in the previous one.

Higgins has 3-16 from nine overs against his former club.

  9. Postpublished at 13:55 BST 16 September

    Yorkshire 212 & 8-2 v Somerset 201

We have thick cloud cover overhead at Headingley as Lewis Gregory bowls to Sam Whiteman.

Whiteman is forward, pushing behind square on the off side for one.

  10. dropped catch

Jones dropped on 37published at 13:53 BST 16 September

    Kent 214 v Lancashire 161 & 76-2

Michael Jones flashes at one wide outside off stump from Keith Dudgeon.

It flies low to Zak Crawley's left at first slip... a tough chance but Crawley has put it down.

Crawley will be disappointed with that and Jones can come through for a single.

A big chance to get one of Lancashire's key batters goes begging.

  11. Postpublished at 13:53 BST 16 September

    Leicestershire 244 v Hampshire 214 & 46-0

A quiet passage of play in the main so far in the session but conditions remain challenging - as Ben Green beats Felix Organ on a defensive push outside the off stump.

Organ had just picked up a four driving the bowler through cover point.

Four runs to Nick Gubbins, moving across to Tom Scriven and clipping through the leg side.

Got to admire Asa Tribe’s determination today - played & missed so many times but puts it behind him & focusses on the next ball. Probably benefited from being out of form as otherwise he may have nicked some of them!

    Brian, The Oval

Re: Asa Tribe - Glamorgan fans might say that players from the County have never had the number of caps they should have done. Hugh Morris and Steve James, as two openers who should have had far more than five tests between them

    Elgar c Jani b Suthar 29 (Essex 134 & 93-2 v Warwickshire 191)

    Manav SutharImage source, Shutterstock

Essex lose their second wicket and it's Manav Suthar who has accounted for both home openers.

The Bears spinner gets considerable turn and bounce and as Elgar pushes an arm out to kind of punch it away the ball shoots off his bat or possibly glove to his right where the short leg fielder takes a sharp catch.

Good hands from Vansh Jani close to the bat as that was travelling.

    Lyth c Nicholls b Overton 1 -Yorkshire 212 & 5-2 v Somerset 201

    Craig OvertonImage source, Getty Images

A great catch from Henry Nicholls. Craig Overton again!

Adam Lyth is across and half forward to the bowler, prodding and edging low to first slip as Nicholls tumbles to his right and takes the catch.

Here comes James Wharton to wield the willow.

  15. Postpublished at 13:47 BST 16 September

    Kent 214 v Lancashire 161 & 72-2

Lancashire have got their foot on the gas pedal.

Michael Jones now puts Keith Dudgeon away for four more before just about keeping out a yorker.

Jones is 36 not out from 56 balls, while Marcus Harris has 13 from 18.

  16. Postpublished at 13:46 BST 16 September

    Surrey 115 v Glamorgan 132 & 165-2

Surrey are certainly guilty of feeding Kiran Carlson's favourite shot at the moment.

Another cover drive - this one off Auqib Nabi - brings him four more runs as he progresses to 26 not out.

Nabi then finds a bit of inswing and hits Carlson on the pad but it's missing leg stump.

He and Asa Tribe have now added 69 for the third Glamorgan wicket.

  17. Postpublished at 13:46 BST 16 September

    Yorkshire 212 & 5-1 v Somerset 201

Three slips in for Lewis Gregory.

Sam Whiteman carefully defends into the off side.

Gregory bowls wider of the crease and Whiteman continues to defend.

A little less bounce and movement at this end but a good, probing spell from the Somerset captain, who does beat Whiteman past the outside edge in the over.

  18. Postpublished at 13:45 BST 16 September

    Kent 214 v Lancashire 161 & 67-2

That is a very handy over for Lancashire with 13 from it.

Khaled Ahmed bowls a wide that goes for four and then Marcus Harris crunches him for two boundaries to end the over.

And now Lancashire lead by 14.

  19. Women's One-Day Cup latestpublished at 13:44 BST 16 September

Hampshire are 88-2 after 17 overs after being put in by Surrey at the Utilita Bowl. Maia Bouchier is currently 35 not out, with Ella McCaughan and Georgia Adams the two batters dismissed.

Winners of this game will meet The Blaze in Saturday's final.

With Somerset at 86-8 they thought it was all over for Somerset. But a wonderful fightback has left the County Championship once more in the balance.

With rain forecast at Chelmsford, Hove and Headingley at some point in the next 2 days, could the weather decide this year’s champion?
