    Essex 134 & 129-4 v Warwickshire 191

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

There’s no disgrace getting out to that. That was a good one. 60 wickets now for Ethan Bamber and 102 since joining Warwickshire last season. He’s proved himself to be both a workhorse and a thoroughbred.

Rain stops play and early tea at Headingleypublished at 14:41 BST 16 September

    Yorkshire 212 & 26-3 v Somerset 201

The clouds had been gathering for some time and the umpires take the players off.

Hopefully the early break will work around the elements and the shower passes in 20 minutes.

  3. 6 runs

for Tom Clarkpublished at 14:40 BST 16 September

    Sussex 162-2 v Notts 240

Flicked off his legs by Tom Clark off Tom Giles... and it flies all the way into the stands for six.

    What a shot that was.

    Organ LBW b Holland 48 - Leicestershire 244 v Hampshire 214 & 104-1

Felix Organ hammers a six off Ajaz Patel over long on to take Hampshire to 100 in the 26th over.

But he's out to Ian Holland in the next over.

He's squared up and misses a defensive prod from the crease.

Hit on the pad in front of middle. The umpire will have tougher decisions to make than that.

Holland has his seventh wicket of the match.

    Here comes Toby Albert.

  5. Division Two updatepublished at 14:39 BST 16 September

Seb Morgan now has three wickets for Middlesex, with Kamran Dhariwal caught behind after 45 minutes at the crease and Ed Middleton lbw, both departing for nought. Gloucestershire are 129-7 in reply to 326 all out by the visitors.

Worcestershire are trying to rebuild following those two quick Durham wickets and are 118-3 in the 33rd over with Adam Hose - who is 21 not out - and skipper Brett D'Oliveira now together.

Sussex continue to motor along and Notts don't really have an answer at the moment.

Tom Clark is 78 not out and Charlie Tear is six away from a 50.

Notts have had their lead cut to 84.

    Thain b Bamber 27 (Essex 134 & 129-4 v Warwickshire 191)

    Bamber's back with a bamboozler.

The Bears bowler who took six wickets yesterday grabs his first of day two by beating Noah Thain all ends up

Bails are flying as Bamber's ball crashes into the top of off and Essex are now four down with a lead of 78.

A crucial period coming up now. Can the Bears capitalise on the momentum or can Essex's batters hold them off?

  8. Postpublished at 14:35 BST 16 September

    Yorkshire 212 & 25-3 v Somerset 201

Sam Whiteman has been struggling for fluency but is still there on 13 after just shy of an hour of batting.

Migael Pretorius is full to Whiteman who blocks on the crease.

He is forward with a thin outside edge but the ball bounces well in front of slip.

    Maiden over.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:34 BST 16 September

    Flintoff lbw b Dudgeon 0 (Kent 214 v Lancashire 161 & 110-4)

In almost identical fashion to the first innings... One brings two again for Kent!

Rocky Flintoff was trapped in front by Khaled Ahmed for a three-ball duck yesterday and now he's gone for a two-ball duck - again lbw, this time to Keith Dudgeon.

That really is a game to forget for Freddie's 18-year-old son, as he gets the dreaded pair.

  10. 50 runs

50 for Nick Gubbinspublished at 14:32 BST 16 September

    Leicestershire 244 v Hampshire 214 & 95-0

His fifth score of 50 or more in a difficult season for Hampshire.

He gets there off 85 balls with his seventh four, slapped through cover on the back foot off the bowling of Ian Holland.

His opening partner Felix Organ gives him a well-deserved pat on the shoulder.

  11. wicket

    Procter lbw Reece 54 (Northants 131-2 v Derbyshire 372)

Luke Procter drives Luis Reece straight back down the ground for four runs.

But with the next ball he is gone as he tries to sweep the ball off his pads and when he misses there was no doubt about the lbw call.

Both Northants openers are out shortly after reaching their half-centuries but they have got their side off to a great start.

  12. wicket

    Jones lbw b Milnes 54 (Kent 214 v Lancashire 161 & 109-3)

Commentator's curse - or live text writer's curse? Sorry, Lancashire fans!

Just as we mention how well the visitors are doing in this second innings, Matt Milnes traps Michael Jones in front.

That is a big wicket for Kent, who were starting to get a little frustrated with that third-wicket partnership, which was worth 71 between Jones and Marcus Harris.

Jones goes for 54 and he's batted very well in this match after getting 44 in the first innings.

  13. Postpublished at 14:29 BST 16 September

    Leicestershire 244 v Hampshire 214 & 90-0

Spinner Ajaz Patel thinks he has Nick Gubbins caught behind on the drive but the umpire says no.

The ball appears to go straight through the left-hander and keeper Ben Cox does well to gather the ball behind the stumps.

    Maiden over.

  14. Postpublished at 14:28 BST 16 September

    Kent 214 v Lancashire 161 & 108-2

Frustration continues to grow for the Kent bowlers.

This won't help either as Marcus Harris inside edges Matt Milnes and it runs away for four more.

Harris then punches the very next ball through extra cover for another boundary.

All going rather swimmingly for Lancashire at the moment. For now. Anyway... we haven't said that too many times this season.

Kiran Carlson leg glances Adam Thomas for two successive fours to bring up a 100 partnership with Asa Tribe and then his own 50 off 91 balls.

After four ducks in his seven previous Championship innings, these are very welcome - and overdue - runs by Glamorgan's captain.

    They lead by 219.

  16. 'A very fine catch'published at 14:27 BST 16 September

    Essex 134 & 125-3 v Warwickshire 191

    Mike Taylor

What a super grab by Kai Smith. He dived to his left and claimed that. It must have flicked the inside edge to divert it back that way. It’s a very fine catch and that makes a big difference. Charlie Allison gone for 15 just as he was starting to look a little more confident. Reward for a very good spell by Barnard.

Yorkshire really have managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory this season - looks like this is going to be a similar story

    George, West Yorkshire

Re Jon in Oxfordshire (13.59), ironically it’s Somerset’s defeat against Yorkshire earlier in the season, from a winning position, that may yet mean they’re thwarted once again.

Here comes Migael Pretorius - bowling from the Kirkstall Lane End.

Sam Whiteman whips the first ball away to long leg for four.

The first four of the innings in fact - and a few cheers ring around the ground.

There hasn't been a lot to hit from this attack to be fair.

  19. Bang bang bangpublished at 14:25 BST 16 September

    Durham 465 v Worcestershire 102-3

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Worcestershire have lost three wickerts since lunch, including two for nought in three balls!

Reehan Edavalath was caught at short mid-wicket by the diving Colin Ackermann for one. Ben Stokes was the bowler and found an inside edge which ricocheted off the thigh pad.

Jake Libby then went two balls later at the other end, lbw to Matty Potts for 55. The ball hit him hard and low and nearly knocked him over.

It's clouded over and is now overcast in CLS. Good bowling conditions. The follow on target is 316.

    Allison c Smith b Barnard 15 (Essex 134 & 121-3 v Warwickshire 191)

    What a catch!

Bears wicketkeeper Kai Smith dives to his left to pluck the ball out of the air as it takes an inside edge off Charlie Allison's bat.

A brilliant take but also excellent reactions and anticipation as he wouldn't have expected the ball to go in that direction.

Ed Barnard the bowler and that feels like an important wicket for the visitors.

    Essex's lead is 64 runs.
