  1. Tea at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 15:37 BST 16 September

    Durham 465 v Worcestershire 175-3

A couple wickets for Ben Stokes but Worcestershire have fought back well during the afternoon session at the Riverside.

Stokes removed Dan Lategan and Rehaan Edavalath and when Matthew Potts had Jake Libby lbw for 55, the visitors were 90-3.

But Adam Hose and Brett D'Oliveira have shared an unbroken stand of 85 since then and kept the Division Two champions at bay.

Hose reached 50 from 94 balls with a single off Colin Ackermann in the final over before tea, but there is plenty of work still to be done if they are to reach 316 and avoid the possibility of having to follow-on.

  2. Tea at Hovepublished at 15:33 BST 16 September

    Sussex 198-4 v Notts 240

You'd have to say it's advantage Sussex at the moment as we head to tea in Hove.

Tom Clark made a fine 89 and Charlie Tear is unbeaten on 50 as Sussex have cut Nottinghamshire's lead to just 42 with six wickets still in hand.

The home side will be fully aware they need to push on from a strong position though.

A few quick wickets this evening for the defending champions could easily swing the momentum.

  3. Postpublished at 15:33 BST 16 September

    Yorkshire 212 & 31-3 v Somerset 201

Maiden over from Jake Ball. Such a pivotal session of play.

    Both sides giving no quarter.

Migael Pretorius to bowl to Sam Whiteman - on 14.

Whiteman is off balance and struck on the pad. The LBW shout is turned down, probably as much on height as the leg stump line.

A full, wide ball outside off is eased through cover for four.

  4. Tea at the Ovalpublished at 15:31 BST 16 September

    Surrey 115 v Glamorgan 132 & 253-3

    Asa TribeImage source, Shutterstock

Ben Kellaway finds the point boundary off Adam Thomas and Glamorgan go into tea with a lead of 270 over Surrey.

They have added 138 during the afternoon for the loss of Kiran Carlson, who fell to Tom Lawes after a stand of 114 with Asa Tribe.

Tribe completed a 200-ball century and is 105 not out at the interval, with Kellaway on 25.

There is still swing out there but the pitch is no as helpful as day one and Surrey need some wickets in the final session or they will be facing a very big target in the fourth innings.

What a knock for Asa Tribe. Really stood up here and fought for Glammy survival!

    Sussex 186-3 v Notts 240

Charlie Tear finally gets through to 50 having been stuck on 49 for quite some time.

He rushes through for a quick single into the off-side from Liam Patterson-White.

It's taken Tear 120 balls and three hours at the crease to reach the half-century.

  7. Postpublished at 15:27 BST 16 September

    Sussex 197-4 v Notts 240

    Olly Stone looks unimpressed.

John Simpson hits him for four and then a few balls later, Simpson edges him away for another boundary behind square on the off-side.

Sussex edge towards 200 and are only 43 behind Notts. They are also withing 53 runs of a batting point.

They'd be the only Division One side to get a batting point in this round of fixtures if they get there.

Yorkshire’s bowlers have done a good job this season but the batsmen have been too inconsistent. To let Craig Overton swing a match Somerset’s way once this season with outrageous batting was a misfortune; to let him do it twice was carelessness.

    Essex 134 & 167-5 v Warwickshire 191 - Essex lead by 110 runs

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

A burst of three wickets in five overs put Warwickshire back in front in this game, and perhaps marginally in the Championship race as well, but by no means decisively so.

There may not be as much assistance for the bowlers as yesterday, but there is still some encouragement, and perhaps more so for the spinners – Warwickshire kept slow bowling, mostly from Manav Suthar, going from the Cook End all afternoon.

Suthar has passed the outside edge on countless occasions, and claimed three wickets – the most recent Matt Critchley, to a smart take by Kai Smith behind the wicket. Smith has had a fine match with the gloves. He started the season in the Championship side but was withdrawn to focus work on his wicketkeeping, and recent evidence since he has returned to the side suggests that effort brought results.

He has kept with growing confidence, frequently standing up to the seamers, and dismissed Charlie Allison with a fine one-handed catch far to his left after the ball flicked the outside edge. That gave Ed Barnard a deserved wicket, and there was one for Ethan Bamber too – his 60th in this season’s Championship – cutting back through Noah Thain to flick the top of middle.

Dean Elgar’s second scrapping innings of the match ended with a poke to short leg on 29. But he was welcomed off the field by a warm reception from the Essex supporters, perhaps speaking on behalf of county cricket fans more generally. This is his final home appearance for his third county, having previously served Somerset and Surrey, and his contribution was honoured by generous applause.

    Harris c Crawley b Khaled 48 (Kent 214 v Lancashire 161 & 129-5)

That is a big wicket for Kent.

Marcus Harris has batted well for Lancashire and was just two runs short of reaching his half-century.

But he's edged behind off Khaled Ahmed and Zak Crawley takes the catch at first slip.

That'll make Crawley feel better after dropping Michael Jones earlier today.

Rehan Ahmed will bowl an over of leg spin before the break.

His first over of the innings.

One slip comes in. He floats the ball up to Nick Gubbins from round the wicket. Pushed to backward point for no run.

The fifth ball is pushed to cover for a tight single.

Toby Albert blocks down the ground and that's tea.

Solid progress for Hampshire who lead by 112 with nine wickets in hand.

Oli Carter tries to flick Olly Stone off his legs through mid-wicket but inadvertently ends up chipping it straight into the hands of Joe Clarke.

It's been tough going for Nottinghamshire in the field today but that will be a welcome boost for the title defenders.

John Simpson comes to the crease with Sussex 55 runs behind.

  14. 100 runs

for Asa Tribepublished at 15:15 BST 16 September

    Surrey 115 v Glamorgan 132 & 240-3

Unwavering concentration is rewarded as Asa Tribe tucks James Taylor away for four and reaches his first Championship century of the season - and fifth in first-class cricket.

It has taken him 200 balls and it is no surprise he punches the air in delight.

He adds a single before Ben Kellaway off drives to the boundary.

The lead is 257, and barring a dramatic collapse, Glamorgan are in the driving seat now.

    Sussex 185-3 v Notts 240

Charlie Tear has been stuck on 49 for a while for Sussex.

He bats out a maiden to Liam Patterson-White, so his wait to reach a half-century will go on.

  17. Postpublished at 15:13 BST 16 September

    Leicestershire 244 v Hampshire 214 & 138-1

Nick Gubbins drives Ben Green, beating mid off for a single.

Toby Albert tries to force a ball away off the back foot.

No connection this time. That bounced a bit low actually.

    Surrey 115 v Glamorgan 132 & 224-3

    Lucky, lucky.

Ben Kellaway jabs the bat down in defence and the ball bounces down and back over the stumps.

Nearly a third wicket of the day for James Taylor.
