    Leicestershire 244 v Hampshire 214 & 135-1

A slip and a silly mid off in for left arm spinner Ajaz Patel.

Toby Albert is forward on the drive and stopped at mid off.

Albert is down the track to the last ball with a thumping drive that nearly takes Nick Gubbins out at the other end.

He tumbles out of the way and the ball speeds to the rope for four.

    Surrey 115 v Glamorgan 132 & 223-3

Asa Tribe takes a sharp single to mid-off and a wild throw gifts him a second run. He moves on to 95 not out.

  3. Postpublished at 15:09 BST 16 September

    Kent 214 v Lancashire 161 & 123-4

We've got a break in play in Canterbury after Matt Quinn caught Matty Hurst on the hand. Looked a painful one where there wasn't a lot of protection from the glove.

  4. 6 runs

for Luc Benkensteinpublished at 15:06 BST 16 September

    Essex 134 & 165-5 v Warwickshire 191

A first six of the innings!

Luc Benkenstein sends Manav Suthar's ball over the ropes to add to the three fours he has added since joining the action.

Benkenstein is in as a sub for the injured Tom Westley and his knock has pushed Essex's lead over 100.

  5. Postpublished at 15:05 BST 16 September

    Leicestershire 244 v Hampshire 214 & 130-1

Ben Green has struggled a bit in this spell.

He's back of a length to Nick Gubbins - who cuts for four to cover point.

Two deliveries later he's driven through the off side by Toby Albert for four, again not quite hitting a length.

  6. rain stops play

Still raining at Headingleypublished at 15:03 BST 16 September

    Yorkshire 212 & 26-3 v Somerset 201

The covers are still on - but to put a more positive spin on matters, three ground staff are in the field in conversation.

Possibly this rain cloud will shift soon.

No play at the moment though.

  7. Postpublished at 15:01 BST 16 September

    Surrey 115 v Glamorgan 132 & 221-3

Too short by James Taylor at the start of a new over and Asa Tribe pulls for for to advance into the 90s.

The next one is wide of off stump and he almost gives it away with a loose attempt at a square cut, but there is no nick.

  8. Postpublished at 15:01 BST 16 September

    Leicestershire 244 v Hampshire 214 & 120-1

Ben Green starts a new spell from the Pavilion End.

Too short, too wide and drilled through the off side by Toby Albert for four runs.

A better line now from Green and Albert leaves outside off.

Albert gets a thick outside edge but guides the ball safely to deep third for one. Soft hands to the ball there.

Green is round the wicket to the left-handed Nick Gubbins, who beats Rehan Ahmed with a stroke to cover for one.

  9. Postpublished at 14:58 BST 16 September

    Kent 214 v Lancashire 161 & 121-4

The flow of runs have slowed slightly for Lancashire since Kent picked up two quick wickets 25 minutes ago.

Marcus Harris picks up a single off Matt Quinn to go to 40.

The visitors are leading by 68 runs, with six wickets still in hand.

It's still anyone's guess as to which way this one will go.

Painstakingly slow progress by Northamptonshire, considering Derbyshire rattled along at 4+ an over. I assume the game plan is to get to about 500 and try and bowl them out but the danger is we’ll take too much time out of the game getting there.

    Leicestershire 244 v Hampshire 214 & 114-1

The sun is out at Grace Road as Nick Gubbins is forward to left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel, pushing square into the off side.

A shorter ball is worked out to extra cover. No run.

Leicestershire battled hard this morning to squeeze out a 44-run lead, but Hampshire's opening pair saw it evaporated in quick time.

Felix Organ has departed, with Nick Gubbins still there and scoring a half-century. The visitors are now building very good foundations for a solid innings.

The pitch, which has had plenty of life in it, has quietened down. Leicestershire have tried their best to keep up pressure but have bowled too many bad balls, allowing the batters to release pressure.

Much more of this and the game will start to get away from the Foxes - who, with or without a points deduction, really need to win this game to stay up.

  13. Postpublished at 14:51 BST 16 September

    Leicestershire 244 v Hampshire 214 & 113-1

Two slips in for Ian Holland now and Nick Gubbins pushes defensively into the off side.

The pitch appears to have flattened out a little after offering more seam and bounce in the first innings.

Holland pushes his line out wider and Gubbins leaves the ball.

    Maiden over.

    Carlson c Thomas b Lawes 57 (Surrey 115 v Glamorgan 132 & 210-3)

You'll have to visit quite a few grounds to see a better slip catch than that.

Tom Lawes finds a bit of extra bounce, finds the edge and Adam Thomas takes off to his left at slip, goalkeeper style, to take the chance in both hands.

Glamorgan will be sorry to see skipper Kiran Carlson go when he was starting to look confident - and his dismissal ends a stand of 114 with the patient Asa Tribe.

New batter Ben Kellaway cover drives for four to open his account and the lead for Glamorgan is 231. The floodlights are on at the Oval.

  15. 'A superb delivery'published at 14:49 BST 16 September

    Essex 134 & 139-5 v Warwickshire 191

    Kit Harris
    BBC Sport commentator

The spinner coming into his own now, that was a superb delivery. It just drifted back into the right hander and turned enough. Critchley went for the drive and it tickled the edge and now there are two new batters.

We could be heading for the west country teams topping and tailing the championship, with Somerset champions for the first time ever, and sadly and despite the drive of Mark Alleyne , Glos bottom again. How Dr. Grace must be saddened looking down from the big pavilion in the sky.....

    Gary, Northamptonshire

To let Somerset go from 86-8 to over 200 is seriously negligent and the second time this season Yorkshire have made Craig Overton appear like prime Ian Botham. Yorkshire batting needs overhaul for next year too.

    Dan, Brighouse

Overton to bat No 7 in the Test side? He seems to have all the attributes of Stokes, mentally and the ability to bowl long spells and play counterattacking innings. He does make things happen.

  17. Postpublished at 14:45 BST 16 September

    Leicestershire 244 v Hampshire 214 & 110-1

Ian Holland bowls full and Toby Albert defends into the leg side.

Holland bowls down the leg side and that's a couple of leg byes.

    Hampshire now lead by 80.

  18. Postpublished at 14:45 BST 16 September

    Surrey 115 v Glamorgan 132 & 210-2

A rare error of judgment by Asa Tribe who flirts with danger outside off stump as Dan Worrall again finds some swing and just misses the edge.

Normal service is resumed next ball as Tribe gets solidly behind it.

He has 88 not out from 173 balls.

    Critchley c Smith b Suthar 11 (Essex 134 & 137-5 v Warwickshire 191)

The Bears are on the charge.

Manav Suthar has a third wicket of the day as Matt Critchley feathers one behind to Kai Smith and the visitors are getting right on top of Essex now.

That's wickets in back-to-back overs and three wickets for 19 runs.

We mentioned a moment ago that it was a crucial period of the game and it feels even more so now.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:44 BST 16 September

    Clark b Hutton 89 (Sussex 167-3 v Notts 240)

Well, quite how Nottinghamshire needed this big slice of luck...

Tom Clark has been flying along for Sussex and he slashes at one a long, long way outside off stump from Brett Hutton but for the first time today, he gets it all wrong and drags onto his own stumps.

Clark goes 11 shy of his century and he looks absolutely desolate as he trudges off slowly.

A brilliant knock by Clark and Notts finally end what was a 132-run partnership with Charlie Tear.
