    Hollman c Robinson b Carse 26 (Durham v Middlesex 38-1 - target 424)

Brydon Carse and Durham are in promotion-chasing business now!

Luke Hollman gloves one fine for four, but Carse has his man two balls later.

It's on Hollman's body again and this time he is caught down legside as the ball climbs on him enough to lose control of his shot.

Carse up and running in the second knock after 5-72 yesterday.

  2. Postpublished at 16:10 BST 10 September

    Sussex 393 v Surrey 204-5

There's a large dark cloud hanging over Hove as Sean Hunt runs in to bowl to Mahipal Lomror - who gets one off the back foot to cover.

Single to Adam Thomas on the front foot, pushing into the off side.

One more to Lomror pushing to deep cover.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:08 BST 10 September

    Cox c Rew b Leach 39 (Leicestershire 139-9 v Somerset, target 523)

The ninth goes down - and the set batter departs.

Somerset are closing in on victory. Jack Leach prompts Ben Cox to play at one which turns away and he feathers through to James Rew. He is clearly disappointed as he trudges off.

Nathan Gilchrist, on loan from Warwickshire, is the final batter to come to the crease.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:07 BST 10 September

    Harrison c Libby b Mir 1 (Northants 53-3 v Worcs - target 94)

We're not going to see another amazing collapse at New Road, are we?

Ricardo Vasconcelos tries to cut Adam Finch and is caught behind for 22.

Then, in the next over, Calvin Harrison plays a horrid swipe at a ball from Usama Mir and edges to Jake Libby at gully.

  5. dropped catch

Lomror dropped on 19published at 16:06 BST 10 September

    Sussex 393 v Surrey 200-5

    Tom Haines to Mahipal Lomror...

Driven high to long on. Substitute fielder Joey Evison runs after it.

The ball is back over his shoulder, he makes his ground and he's dropped it.

Not easy at all but it is a chance.

Lomror has a life on 19 and the ball runs away for four, taking Surrey to 200 in the 68th over.

This is the current picture from Old Trafford where the rain is coming down persistently and heavily now.

It feels a stretch to imagine that the players will return today, even if it does stop raining at some point.

The match was nicely poised with Lancashire 120-6 chasing 248 but Rocky Flintoff unbeaten on 57.

There is a match taking place at the other Old Trafford at 8pm this evening - and the advice for any spectators heading in this right direction is to bring a good raincoat!

  7. Back underway at Leicesterpublished at 16:05 BST 10 September

    Leicestershire 135-8 v Somerset, target 523

We are playing again in the evening session at Grace Road.

Ben Cox is still there on 39, Josh Hull on 8 and Craig Overton, hunting a five-wicket haul, is bowling.

    Lehmann c Hay b Stone 2 (Hants 11-4 v Notts - target 178)

Poor dismissal for first-innings centurion, who slashes at a wide one from Olly Stone and nicks to the keeper.

Hampshire were on a high after bowling Notts out for 104 - not any more.

"What is going on in the Championship in this round? Really varying scores," says BBC commentator Mel Farrell.

  9. Postpublished at 16:02 BST 10 September

    Sussex 393 v Surrey 196-5

Slightly overpitched by Sean Hunt bowling round the wicket - and Adam Thomas drives through cover for four.

    That takes him to 11.

  10. DERBYSHIRE DECLARE ON 352-8published at 16:02 BST 10 September

    Derbys 352-8d & 300 v Kent 219

Derbyshire have decided after all to declare during this bad light delay.

It means that, when we return to the field, Kent will be batting and chasing 434 runs to win.

  11. Postpublished at 16:02 BST 10 September

    Durham v Middlesex 34-0 - target 424

Luke Hollman squirts one away past the gully region from Ben Raine and he gets another four.

He then picks up a couple before Raine sends in a wide that misses everything and goes down for four.

Hollman and Sam Robson then runs three singles off the last three balls of an expensive over.

A total of 14 off it and it's looking like a useful start for Middlesex.

  12. Bad light stops play at Derbypublished at 16:00 BST 10 September

    Derbys 352-8 & 300 v Kent 219

What has actually been quite a fun passage - with Derbyshire chasing as many runs as possible at the end of their innings - has come abruptly to an end because of bad light.

Brooke Guest is still unbeaten on 75 and Derbyshire lead by 433.

  13. Postpublished at 15:59 BST 10 September

    Sussex 393 v Surrey 192-5

A slip and a silly mid on are in for the medium pace of Tom Haines.

Mahipal Lomror defends down the ground.

He guides a bit of width and guides one away to deep third for two.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:58 BST 10 September

    Albert c sub b Pennington 1 (Hants 11-3 v Notts - target 178)

Did that carry to sub Sam Seecharan at gully?

The umpires say it did and Toby Albert is on his way.

Just when it looked like Notts' title hopes were fading, they are suddenly very much alive again.

Come on Hampshire, don't you dare muck this up From all your friends at Edgbaston.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:58 BST 10 September

    Procter lbw Mir 21 (Northants 49-1 v Worcs - target 94)

Usama Mir twirls in and Luke Procter is leg before as he shapes to flick the ball to square leg.

Calvin Harrison replaces his captain in the middle.

  16. Postpublished at 15:56 BST 10 September

    Sussex 393 v Surrey 190-5

Sean Hunt gets one to keep low on Adam Thomas who jabs the ball down and ends up down on his haunches.

We haven't seen that on this pitch before.

Short and pulled to square leg. Not timed and no run.

Maiden over and now Tom Haines will bowl from the Sea End, who dismissed Ollie Pope this morning.

  17. Postpublished at 15:54 BST 10 September

    Northants 44-0 v Worcs - target 94

Tea taken, we are back for what will surely be the final session of this match.

Adam Finch will resume for Worcestershire with Luke Procter on strike.

  18. Evening session underway at Hovepublished at 15:53 BST 10 September

    Sussex 393 v Surrey 190-5

Adam Thomas will face off seamer Sean Hunt to get the session started on seven not out.

Two slips and a short mid wicket in.

Mahipal Lomror is at the other end on 17.

Surrey had the better of the afternoon session with 50s from Ryan Patel and Ben Foakes - but Sussex fought back to oust both of them before the break.

Feels like an even contest. It might be a slightly truncated session with rain and poor light a possibility within the next two hours.

Why on earth are Derbyshire still batting with a lead of 417 runs?! We are going to need every possible over to bowl Kent out and I'd say there is no danger of us losing. Sleepwalking into a draw here...

    Durham v Middlesex 15-0 - target 424

Brydon Carse over-pitches and Luke Hollman crunches it through the offside for four.

Carse kicks the air in frustration at his length with this one.

The Durham bowler being hit through the offside by a leftie opener immediately takes the mind back to Travis Head in the Ashes last winter.
